I too read that the Russian soldiers did a lot raping of German women. Assuming it is a true statement. Now place yourself as a Russian soldier. Your father was killed by the German. Your uncle, brother, school mates, postal man, local store keeper, your best friends that you grow up with, etc. Some you have witnessed. What do you think you will do to German people when you face them? Now turn yourself into a young American man. At Pearl, Japanese killed a handful of Americans that you could relate but do not know personally. What would you do as an American? Machine gun Japanese? Fire bomb? A-bomb? Or go easy on them by rape a few? Now do you think the Russian soldiers behaved closer to Saints? Pearl turn out to be a very successful American battle cry. A sneak Japanese attack! Yes, how can you hit me without warning? Shame on Japan. Seriously, do you think your first punch should be a gentle push or a deadly smack? American lost was over 2,000. What better way to go into a war with a nation united (not divided). US declares war on Japan and Hitler declares war on US, etc. Now the backdoor method to the European war is complete. Did you know that Doug McArthur lost 90,000 men days later after Pearl? This time, with warning, no more sneak attack excuses. However, that chapter somehow got lost in the American history, as if it never happened. Why was he worth saving and not Kimmel and Short, Pearl commanders? Was Pearl really a sneak attack? At time, US could read the Japanese diplomatic secret code but not the Purple IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) code per official American history. Like in zero knowledge. In less then 6 months after Pearl, before the Battle of Midway, US could read 100% of that code. What? Is that possible? For example, it took US 30 or 40 years to break the Russian secret code with the aid of modern super computer. |

Wow, thanks for the lengthy reply. May I suggest you to cut it shorter and get right to the point? I am not here to read a book. Please do not talk like a politician. Where he/she goes on and on and on. Here is a short reply. I maybe jumping from subject to subject. I think you and I both read the same history. No, this is not the Mao?s version. I may have dug a little deeper than you have and realize there is an Official version of history, written by the winner. And there are the untold stories and suppressed facts. I ask myself, how could this be knowing this and that? I do agree with you. No need for me to discredit the American war effort during WW2. Japan did behaved badly. Probably no worse than American fighting the Indians. China was divided, however far from easily defeated . Japan fought eight years in China and had several million men tie down in China, not able to move them to other war theater. American knew that and wants to keep it that way. Such as Burma Road. Did you know about this small border skirmish between Japan and Russia ? After that, Japan realizes it is much easier to go south and face British, Dutch, French, American and others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Khalkhin_Gol Do you also know FDR, against his advisors, stationed the Pacific fleet at Pearl? Did you know there was a warning of pending attack to Kimmel and Short, Pearl commanders, using the slowest possible method. The warning arrived after the attack. Did you know the US economic depression of the 1930s? FDR did a number of things and they help a little bit. But WW2 helped in a huge way. FDR won the ticket into the office for No War, but secretly wishing and hoping for one, the European war. I guess he realize Japan could his back door solution? American was doing great doing selling arms/war materials to all the combatants, Japan included. But as the war progresses, I guess FDR realized the BIG picture, if American do not get involve soon, one day, America may have to face a Hitler Europe all the way across the Atlantic and all alone. Timing is about right. All the combatants were the miniature version of their former glory. Nazi already lost half of their fighting men, their best. By the way, US and Japan did not sign the International poison gas usage agreement. I question Truman?s statement of one million US casualties of a Japan invasion, knowing the available gas and the able body US fighting men. US population was about 130 million, or 65 million males. Minus the old and young. Will US pay that kind of price to invade? He will need to answer that to the American parents and public. Did you know that near the end of war, Japan was trying to find a way to end the conflict by talking to the Russians? US insisted on Unconditional-Surrender. In the end, it was Conditional. Japan kept the Emperor Hirohito. |

Americans dropped the a-bomb on Japan not for China, but to save American lives,
That is mostly US propaganda to justify the A-bomb usage. A-bomb was the most expansive American weapon during WW2. Nazi Germany was already out of picture. There was a real need to test this on real human subjects. Many American Doctors went to Japan after the war, not to treat the A-bomb victims. But to document the A-bomb effect. The point the person was making obviously is that if Japan had won the war, China would have become Japanese. Japan easily defeated China (to this day it is a big embarrassment to Chinese how easy/fast China fell to Japan). Had Japan not gone so aggressive fighting so many nations, America would not have cut off vital natural resources (which led to Japan's decision to bomb Pearl Harbor - a very foolish decision by Japan). To suggest the atom bombs did not play a huge role in stopping the war, and thus the defeat of China by Japan, is simply naive. Japan was ready to fight on. Who knows what would have happened had America been forced to go door-to-door all over Japan to force them to full surrender. Japan might have turned the tide and suddenly tied Americans down. Had they pushed back Americans, they would have risen fast again. And the suggestion that is was a human experiment is absurd and conspiracy-crazy observation like people who believe in UFOs. Japan had no real interest in surrendering and were given endless chances with Potsdam Declaration the most reasonable effort to get Japan to surrender. They saw no need to surrender. They didn't even care their cities were being burned to the ground. They really believed they could have fought on and rallied again. America was already in southern Japan while Japan was retreating in Manchuria, Indo-China, while China, Britian and America together signed and presented this declaration making it very clear to Japan they were to surrender or face utter destruction. This reason this declaration was presented was to get Japan's undivided attention that they were ignoring reasonable surrender options and by doing so was courting complete destruction. Japan knew that America had been working on atom bomb but did not believe American scientists would be smart enough to build an actual deliverable bomb. Japan gave up trying to build one when they realized just how hard it would be to deliver an atom bomb to American western cities (another reason they foolishly thought they were smarter than everyone else so they couldn't believe America would be able to do so they never factored in America being able to do this). There is no USA propaganda to justify atom bombs. It was a clear, and quite honestly simple, military decision. The USA dropped the bombs to get full surrender and to avoid millions of casualties (on both sides but of course they thought of their casualties first) during a world war that already had seen about 70 million deaths. The world had gone mad so to many a few hundred thousand more was nothing compared to tens of millions already dead. If you had 3 million men boating towards Japan to fight every living Japanese hand-to-hand combat, or a new bomb that could end the war without having to fight women and children all over Japan...you too might have made the decision to bomb. America had taken southern Japan already and was planning a mainland invasion into Tokyo. They had fire bombed every Japanese city. Japan had no success pushing back Russia in Manchuria (but never lost to Russia - that is a myth) and America/Britian/China defeated them in Burma and China eventually. There empire was over for Japan but Japan STILL didn't surrender unconditional which was a very necessary process to stop Japan fully. They were asked for unconditional surrender in order to save their own culture and nation. They still refused. In June of '45 America took over southern Japan, and Russia had not yet moved on Japan in Manchuria until they watched Americans defeat Japan all the way back to Japan and only when second atom bomb was dropped (Russia never defeated Japan in Manchuria - Japan did suffer two big battle losses but they also inflicted horrible casualties and disruptions on Russians until peace treaty was signed so they stopped full battles). July was Potsdam Declaration. Japan knew America was invading Tokyo eventually. Hirohito was considered a living god and he ordered every Japanese into military status (women, children, elderly) and gave orders to die before surrendering. They did that in Okinawa. Thousands of civilians committed suicide as they saw America troops coming near them (who they quickly learned treated them better than Hirohito did, so the suicides quickly stopped and eager surrender for food and water occurred). There is a very famous video of American troops pleading with Japanese people to come and get food/water yet the Japanese jumping off high cliffs to their deaths. They finally caught a Japanese man who then got on loud speaker and told people American's were being exceptionally nice and that Hirohito's story of monster Americans was a lie (this was BEFORE Hiroshima). Hirohito gave Japan and America no options. Remember, it was not America who said Japan would be destroyed if they did not surrender. China also signed the declaration as well. China knew full well that Japan would be completely destroyed if they didn't simply surrender. China suspected America had nuclear power when they signed the agreement with America. It actually was a simple decision to use the bombs to garnish full surrender. It was a horrible incident but so was the whole war. The bombs were no better or worse than many events of the war. People act as if atom bombs were the worst incident of the war. They were not. Japan did far worse things and America's fire bombs did for worse things in Japan before atom bombs. People like to go back in history and revisit the battle fields as if they were experts on what happened. It's all very simple. It was a raging battle that was ended with atom bombs as a logical arsenal usage. There was absolutely no mention of Russia as part of the reason to surrender. Hirohito specifically mentioned nuclear warfare as a threat to Japan's culture/country, and all of humanity, as the reason Japan gave up. Japan would definitely had used atom bomb had they gotten it first. Fortunately, they did not. Of course Japan would surrender to Americans rather than Russians. Russians would have taken control of Hokkaido permanently since they believe it is part of Russia. Russians would have murdered/raped Japanese as they did to Germans for revenge. Russia would have never had a plan for post-war Japan. They would have just pillaged and left it bare. America never made Japan a part of America and America returned all of Japan to Japan with the condition that they would build military bases to provide stability. If America had left, China and Russia would have raped/murder revenge for all the horrible things that Japan did in the beginning. Chinese people to this day dream of rape/murder revenge so you can imagine what would have happened if Japan was left to China and Russia to gain control. Stop with all these crazy 2010 views of WW2. It was a time of full carnage where tens of millions of people were brutally murdered in the most inhumane ways. Every nation eventually engaged in these acts of barbarism. No nation was above it. But it is important to remember that it was Japan and Germany who started the barbaric behavior first. They started the aggression first by trying to conquer the world. That is why both nations were burned to the ground eventually. They just refused surrender when it was an obvious decision. Given they had brought terror to the world, it was an easy decision to bomb them into nothing. It wasn't even a difficult decision for the military leaders of the time. President Truman signed off as atom bomb being acceptable weapon but he NEVER knew when are where it was going to be used. It was military leaders than made that decision. Truman was on a ship in the ocean when he heard the news the first bomb was dropped. He had no idea where/when it had been used. He celebrated instantly because he simply believed it was going to end the war. He had no other reaction other than 'this could end the war!!'. Later in life he was against the use of nuclear weapons as he realized it could end human civilization but he said to his death that the use of those two bombs to end the carnage of WW2 was the only logical decision to be made. Truman later fired his top general because that general wanted to use nuclear bombs in Korea to fight back Chinese. Truman refused to use the bomb again. He had seen top secret photos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (noboby in the world saw similar photos until at least 20 years later because even in Japan it was illegal and punishable with prison to show atom bomb photos in Japan). Truman learned what is was. Remember, he was a simple man who suddenly became president just months before bombs. FDR had died and Truman became president. FDR never spoke to Truman and though of Truman as a nice but simple man who did not deserve to know top secret things. Truman has Vice President had no clue that America had nuclear Manhattan Project that led to atomic bombs. He was stunned to learn America had that capability when he became president. It was the right decision from a military standpoint. Of course it is immoral. All war is immoral. All battles are immoral. No battles have full honor and respect in them. Mao and Japan used scorched earth campaigns against Chinese. Japan's Pearl Harbor attack was a total shock and a cowardly act because they had officials in Washington pretending to come to sign peace and ally documents. All war is immoral. The atom bomb was simply the biggest weapon in the war. It was used to end a crazy mad world war. It's a myth to suggest otherwise. To save American lives? Really? Did you know about the massive American poisonous gas stationed in Hawaii and Australia? This was left out of US history. Again, very simple. Did you know about the biological and chemical bombs that Japan dropped on China in the 1930s? Japan had broken every agreed rule of warfare concerning civilized behavior. All nations fighting Japan knew Japan exhibited intense cruel behavior which included biological and chemical weapons, human experiments, cruel forms of torture, slaughter of civilian people including women, children and elderly, rape of women. America POWs told of horror stories in Japanese camps. 70% of AMerican prisoners died in Japanese camps. 90% of Japanese survived America camps and many later wrote that Americans treated them better than their own military leaders did. American spies sent back word of Japan's chemical and biological weapons (and human experiments on their own people as well as prisoners from other nations). One of the reasons Nagasaki was on the list to be bombed (they were the third choice, not second -- a rain storm at another Japanese city caused pilot to fly to Nagasaki instead) was because an America pilot crew crashed in Nagasaki. They were not innocent pilots of course since they dropped bombs. But the crew were turned into human lab experiments while twisted Japanese scientists wanted to test out their chemical ideas on human beings instead of mice, monkeys, rats.. When word got back through spies and prisoners that this happened, Nagasaki was put on the list. Every nation had WMDs of some sort and experimented sometimes on their own people secretly. Mao gassed his own Chinese people and conducted biological experiments on Chinese people. Any chemist can proceed chemical weapons. That's no secret a simple tv documentary will teach that. Atom bomb really was a simple decision to save American lives. Any general would make this easy decision. When you've completely defeated an enemy and they tell you that you will have to kill every citizen in order to get written surrender, it's very simple to use atom bomb instead of sending 3 million men into the Japanese mainland to fight house to house combat. It would have taken 5-10 more years to go through every city and fight every Japanese person (Iraq and Afghanistan is proof that a futuristic powerful military force is not enough to fight local tribes of people with no real money, power, or high weapons). People forget that Japanese literally believed Hirohito was a living god. They did ANYTHING he said and never disobeyed him. Millions committed suicide during the war because they thought it was honorable since Hirohito said it was. They showed over and over again they would kill themselves and innocent enemies for Hirohito. People don't know anything about Japanese behavior during WW2. They did not fight for Japan or natural resources that America was denying them. They fought for Hirohito their living god. They were 100% submissive to Hirohito. They were getting ready to all die for him rather than simply surrender and keep Japan intact. Hirohito only succumbed to pressure from other powerful Japanese people who saw that Hirohito was threatening the extinction of the Japanese race. Some were planning to assassinate him when they realized his power over Japanese. Hirohito only surrendered from pressure inside Japan. The truth is, he did not surrender to Russia or America. He was ready to let everyone die rather than surrender. The people clearly showed they were willing to die for him like bees protecting the hive with no care for their own self. He surrendered when finally convinced by moderates that thousands of years of Japanese culture would be wiped off the earth if he simply did not surrender. He only surrendered when Americans agreed not to dismantle the royal family lineage and their position in society. That is why today there is still a royal family in Japan. Japanese government decide to end the war because of the A-bomb? Do not forget the attacking Russian Army was a much bigger threat to Japan. Uncle Joe true to his word that he will attack Japan 3 months after the end of Nazi. This was left out of US history to promote the A-bomb. US propaganda mentioned that Japanese will never surrender. No one bother to mentioned the massive Japanese troop surrendered to the Russian Army in the last few days? Actually, this was left out of everyone's history book since USSR had a very closed society (like China) so Russians never gave these reports or history account to the world until many many years after WW2. People act as if there was CNN and internet back in WW2. Manchuria battle was rarely mentioned in any media during those days. It was not as known back then as it is now. Nobody had any idea of the struggle in Manchuria. And Japan never lost in Manchuria. They did suffer a serious battle defeat but they were never forced out of Manchuria by Russians. They were only able to push so far before Russia was able to stop them. But this 'it was Russians, not atom bomb' is another 'face' issue with Japan. Japan is the place this theory came from and very surprising to hear so many Chinese accept this as fact. It is easier for Japanese to say 'Russia beat us, not the Americans and their atom bombs'. And it was a political decision to make this statement later after Hirohito's official surrender sighted nuclear destruction (not just of Japan) as the man reason to give up finally. America was occupying Japan. Russia never did. To say Russia was about to invade and take over Japan as the reason to end war, is to believe the ultra conservative Japanese view of how the war ended. America was already in Japan. There would have been no possible way, with atom bomb capacity, that Americans would have ever allowed Russia to do this. Russia and American had aligned somewhat at that point too (though never officially). By declaring war on Japan too, AFTER the second atom bomb, Russia obviously was part of a great allied message to Japan to stop. It benefitted everyone including Russians to have them declare war on Japan when it was obvious that Japan had just been completely defeated by America. Japan never admitted they were defeated by America and they certainly NEVER stated that Russia had defeated them in Manchuria (there were millions of Japanese in Manchuria after the war ended so Russia never chased Japan back towards Japan nor was Russia anywhere near Japan mainland invasion). Japan, along with many others, refuse to admit that the atom bomb is what stopped them. The reason for this has to do with Japan's honor system (face) as well as a clever decision to send war crime letter to Switzerland protesting atom bomb as war crime against humanity not just Japan. By doing this, Japan laid the ground work to say America was the inhumane ones of war not Japanese. Japan agrued that the damage they did to Asia was just part of war battles yet they tried to say what America did was not part of war battles. They used racism as an official complaint against America. It's much the same propaganda they used in Asia to convince Chinese to let another Asian race (Japan) rule China rather than the beastly caucasian race. Even Chinese have hard time admitting America defeated Japanese even though Japan murdered about 30 million Chinese and America battled with China to defeat Japan in China. Japan always made war about race issues and to this day there are still conservatives who want to paint Americans as racist invaders who had no soul. Japan is the nation that declared every other race as subhumans. Japan started the idea, along with Germany, that they were a super race of people and they routinely denigrated other races in their media and propaganda. Both of those nations used their thoughts of being superior to justify taking over other nations and taking their resources to fuel their master plans. Eventually they got racist propaganda thrown back at them and today some revisionist want to say 'see...Americans were racist to Japan so that is why they atom bombed us'. Long before Americans called them 'dirty Japs', the Japanese had long labeled Americans as simple-minded beasts not capable of any real feats on par with Japan (just this week the 'simple minded Americans' was repeated by prominent Japanese politician). The Japanese thought the caucasian race was a pathetic subhuman race and they had no capacities to match the Japanese in any way. The fear of west only came when they realized they started a fight with a very capable enemy that was probably going to defeat them (Japan knew months before their surrender they were going to be defeated). The idea that the caucasian Americans could defeat the might samurai culture that created powerful Japan, just made the Japanese laugh. They thought Americans were lower than dogs while they truly believed samurai culture should be taken to all Asian countries as the ultimate Asian way. Japanese were so soundly beaten by America that they completely abandoned their amazing samurai culture. Russia had nothing to do with any of this. Russia NEVER defeated Japan anywhere but two battles which only stopped Japan from going further towards Moscow. Three days after Nagasaki, the Russians moved on Japanese forces again in Manchuria. The war was over by then. Those Japanese forces had no support, no communication from home base, no supplies, no cold weather gear. Japan surrendered to Americans, not Russians. Japan did not surrender Hokkaido to Russians. They surrendered all of Japan to America and it was a very wise decision because they knew they would get their nation and Japanese ways back again. They got to keep their entire nation including islands they may or may not have had rightful ownership too and they avoided rape/murder revenge that Russians and Chinese wanted. America promised protection from Russian, Chinese, Korean revenge and land grabs in exchange for unconditional surrender. Russia had no capability to run Japan should the Japanese wanted to surrender to Russia because of Manchuria. Japan gave up Manchuria to Russia long before America got involved with Japan. Japan did not surrender the nation of Japan to Russia. Hirohito mentioned Russia as a reason for choosing to surrender to America but he NEVER stated Russia was the reason for surrender. He simply saw no use in fighting for Manchuria but so the value in keeping Hokkaido. What is a bigger threat to Japan? An invading Army outside of your door or bombs from sky? Well, since America had invaded Japan (Okinawa) and dropped bombs from the sky, I'd say both made for a powerful threat. And finally, let us not leave out the biggest trouble maker of all for China. Mao Zedong. Mao let Japan invade Manchuria and China in order to weaken KLM. He allowed Japan to do horrible things to China before he ever battled Japan. He let Japan, Russia, Chiank all fight each other until he saw his opportunity. Mao never spoke Mandarin. He thought himself a Hunan and only spoke Hunan dialect. He only made Mandarin official language because it was most efficient way to force communism on China since Han are majority. But Mao never learned Mandarin. He refused to learn it. Mao was a traitor to China. Mao embraced the philosophy of the invading Russians. He was inspired by Russian Marxism so he took the philosophy of invaders not the philosophy of China. He allied with Russia...the invaders of China...in a war against Koreans who were trying to gain full Korean independence not two separate Koreas. Mao killed more Chinese with his crazy ideas than any other nation did to China. Mao is the reason there is no democracy or modern Chinese thought yet in China. China has not found a modern voice yet, they have only imitated engineering of modern world. Mao took away China's history and voice which makes it hard today for China to truly become unified and function well instead of this embarrassing society were people act barbaric/clueless yet think they are sophisticated with cell phones, designer clothes, cars, etc. Mao allied himself with America certain times, sometimes Russia, sometimes India, sometimes Korea...and there is evidence that he may have allied with Japanese. Yet Mao is still thought of as a hero today in China. Mao visited Japan in 1970s and there is a video of him on Japan TV thanking Japan for invading China because when they did that they helped him become force communism on China (that was all Mao's goal. He was obsessed with communism, not China). He also thanked Japan for the business they did with him and teaching him their modern technology. That video will never appear in China. That is for sure. The communists would never allow such truth. It is easier to blame foreigners for silly '100 years of humiliation'. It is easier to blame caucasians because that is what Mao taught. Even today, many Chinese of course are really angry about Japan but they also seem to blame caucasians most for the overall problems in China. That is because race hating is easier than learning truth. Truth is complex. Truth is hard to know honestly. But race becomes easy answer for some. Mao also is the reason why so many Chinese think similar thoughts of Japanese regarding atom bombs. Because Mao never hated Japan, and evidence shows he thought highly of Japan (he never asked Japan for war reparations while visiting Japan), he also started saying the same thing Japanese did regarding Japan's surrender. Because Mao was a Russian lover (Marxism) and he thought Russia had best philosophy, he is one who taught China to blame America for war atrocity of atom bomb while also saying it was his Russia lover than defeated Japan not America. Had Chinese people sided with Chiank (no saint of course) instead of Mao, China would have joined the modern world during the Industrial Revolution. United, China could have defeated Japan easily and they would have had America as ally instead of Russia as ally. There would be one Korea, not two. The Soviet Union would have never been so powerful for so long. Vietnam would not have become communist thus avoiding Vietnam War. Myanmar would be Burma still and not the military state it is now. There would be no communist rule in China today and there would never have been a Tibetan problem that Mao created. No...it is just easier to blame the west for everything and of course blame them for war atrocity against Japan. |

Wow, thanks for the lengthy reply. May I suggest you to cut it shorter and get right to the point? I am not here to read a book. Please do not talk like a politician. |
